We long for 7 Mile Road to be birthed in prayer.
That’s the kind of language we’ve been tossing around for a while. Our hope has been to soak, drench, saturate, and flood this new ministry with prayer. Desperate, repentant, dependent prayer. We want prayer to be the cradle in which our church is born and grows.
Believe it or not, we’ve been praying about 7MR for five years. Back then, we would set apart Mondays for prayer and fasting. Our group was scattered across NY, Boston, and Philadelphia. But on Mondays, if we could see it, we were standing before the throne of God together. Of course, some weeks we were more consistent than others; but we prayed.
Then as the dream of 7MR was becoming more and more a reality, we sought intercessors to seek the Father with us. We mailed out over a hundred letters to friends and family pleading with them to partner with us in prayer. Many responded and many prayed.
On Monday nights in Boston, the leaders gathered for prayer. Months before we moved to Philadelphia, 7MR was lifted up to God. So cool to know that every week, a handful of saints will gather in that old school building and seek Jesus for us. They continue to pray.
Every month, we send out our prayer requests to over a hundred saints who have told us that they will remember our work in prayer. We need them to pray.
And taking one more step in that direction, this past week, our group met for the first time in this new season to pray. We’ll do that same thing here on out every week. We will pray.
