On Sunday, I got to preach Jesus’ conversation in the Garden of Gethsemane from Matthew 26. Jesus was a “man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief.” His suffering gives hope, encouragement, comfort, and an answer to ours.
I’ve been encouraged this week by a picture of what it looks like to suffer well. Matt Chandler, a brother in the Acts 29 Network, had a seizure on Thanksgiving morning and underwent surgery last week as doctors worked to remove a tumor from his brain. Here’s a video he made for his church before going under the knife.
We can suffer well in this life because Jesus suffered with us and for us.
