The Gospel According to Exodus

If you talked to a Jew living in the Old Covenant, in the years that preceded Christ, and you asked him to explain words like – salvation, ransom, deliverance, redemption – he would not look at you funny. He would not be baffled. He would not be silent. He would know exactly what those words meant. And he would proceed to tell you a story. His story.

Our people were slaves in Egypt. Our lives were marked by bondage, anguish, bitter toil, and death. We were forced to serve a cruel ruler, the enemy of our God. There was nothing we could do to set ourselves free. Our whole lives, we were captives in Egypt.

But God…

Heard our cries. Saw our affliction. Knew our pain. And remembered His covenant. God raised up a deliverer for us named Moses. And with great signs and wonders, with mercy towards us and judgment towards our enemies, God led us out of bondage. He set us free. We were freed to worship and serve Him. God saved us. God ransomed us. God delivered us. God redeemed us. This is the story of our exodus.

Join us as we begin a new preaching series through the book of Exodus. We’ll break the book into three parts. We’re calling the series The Gospel According to Exodus because the whole thing is about Jesus. Part 1 begins this week. See you Sunday.
