Happy Thanksgiving Seven Mile Road

The house is clean. The kids are dressed. The bird is in the oven. Our house will be full of people in about 45 minutes. But Seven Mile Road Church, before the day is swept away with food, family, friends, and football (Go Eagles!), here are 4 reasons that your elders will thank God for you today.

1.  Because you make our work a joy.

Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. (Hebrews 13:17)

2.  Because there is nowhere we would rather preach or teach.

And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers. (1 Thessalonians 2:13)

3.  Because you are the most humble and united people we know.

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. (Philippians 2:1-3)

4.  Because there is no one we would rather live out gospel, community, and mission with, than with you.

So, being affectionately desirous of you, we were ready to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own selves, because you had become very dear to us. (1 Thessalonians 2:8)
