Seven Mile Road, this weekend, a few of us will be heading down to Atlanta to meet with some other church planters from around the country to pray and plan for The Advance Initiative in 2016. We wanted to keep you in the loop so that you might continue to pray for this effort and pray for us this weekend.
What is the Advance Initiative?
At one of our Members’ Meetings last year, we discussed a unique opportunity that we sensed God had given our church to encourage church planting nationally among Indian Americans. As a result of that conversation, we connected with some church planters from around the country and launched The Advance Initiative. The stated vision of The Advance Initiative is to see a movement of gospel-centered, multiethnic churches planted by or among Indian Americans.
What is the goal of this meeting in Atlanta?
In 2015, we launched this effort with a Conference in Orlando (see here for videos and highlights). We had nearly 80 people from over 20 cities and 13 states attend. It was a great start and we believe that church planting came into the vocabulary of a whole bunch of people that had never heard or thought about it before. We want to build on what God began last year and so we’re getting together to seek Him and talk with one another about what He might do through Advance in 2016. In short, pray and plan. That’s our goal.
How can we help?
We’re excited to give you some updates at our upcoming Members Meeting (Feb 7), and some specific ways you can help this coming year. For now, please pray for this weekend:
- Unity among all who gather, that we would be of one heart, one mind, and one accord.
- That gospel-centered, multiethnic churches would be planted because of Advance.
- For safe travels with Jonas coming!
