So we had our cookout. It was a lot of fun and we threw out a bunch of names. Some were terrible…here are some of the ones we thought were the best.
City Lights Church (or something with City in it)
One Voice Church
Soli Deo Church (God alone)
Carmen Dei Church (song of God)
Awakened Church
Emmaus Road Church
The last one is my favorite (partly because Shainu thought of it). I think in a lot of ways it captures what we’re going for. 2 guys who sort of know things about Jesus, walking with Him, slowly discovering, having truth presented to them, their hearts burning as they hear the Gospel, Jesus revealing how all Scriptures points to Him, breaking bread together, having their eyes opened by Christ, etc.
The drawback is that there are a bunch of churches with this name already – a bunch of which are weird, emergent, etc…so it might bunch us together in a way we don’t want to be. Also, most of the URLs we would want are already taken.
Anyway, we’ll keep thinking.
