Here are some of the efforts that our GCMs and members church-wide are involved in.

North Hills Collective

North Hills Education and Recreation Program provides after-school programs (i.e. tutoring, discussion groups, etc.) and a summer camp for children living in the moderate to low income neighborhood of North Hills in Upper Dublin Township. Many of our GCMs in this area enjoy serving the children of North Hills through tutoring, assistance with the summer camp, and hosting events on-site.

GROW

GROW is a ministry in Northeast Philadelphia that teaches English as a second language using a curriculum that can be found across America in venues from individual homes to college campuses. GROW has served thousands of people from over 40 countries over the years. Many from SMR volunteer at GROW by teaching English classes or serving as an assistant.

Caring for Friends

Philadelphia has one of the highest rates of food insecurity in the country. Caring for Friends is an organization that our church has partnered with in packing and delivering food to our neighbors in northeast Philadelphia. Weekly opportunities for service are available and some of our GCMs regularly serve in this ministry.

Safe Families

Founded in 2003, Safe Families for Children surrounds families in crisis with a caring, compassionate community. They are a volunteer-driven nonprofit that provides hope and support to families in our local communities and are motivated by faith to keep children safe and families intact. There are a variety of ways to support Safe Families, from being a Host Family for children to serving as a support system to families who are hosting.
