We’ll be singing a new song this Sunday by John Mark McMillan. The song talks about the threat of death to our eternal souls and how Jesus came to earth, paid our wages on the cross, and conquered death once and for all. There is much in this world and in our own hearts that trouble us, that make us weep, that shame us, that should lead our souls to eternal hell. What mercy God has shown us to send Christ Jesus into the world to save sinners like us (1 Tim 1:15) and to put on himself all the weight of sin and death so that we might be free and have eternal life. We get to sing of thatthis Sunday! Here’s a link to the audio. Lyrics to the song and Sunday’s setlist are below.
SETLIST
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Death in His Grave
You’re Beautiful
Amazing Grace
Blessed Assurance
DEATH IN HIS GRAVE
Though the Earth Cried out for blood
Satisfied her hunger was
Her billows calmed on raging seas
For the souls on men she craved
Sun and moon from balcony
Turned their head in disbelief
Their precious Love would taste the sting
Disfigured and disdained
On Friday a thief, on Sunday a King
Laid down in grief, but awoke with keys
Of Hell on that day, the first born of the slain
The Man Jesus Christ laid death in his grave
So three days in darkness slept
The Morning Sun of righteousness
But rose to shame the throes of death
And over turn his rule
Now daughters and the sons of men
Would pay not their dues again
The debt of blood they owed was rent
When the day rolled a new
He has cheated Hell and seated
Us above the fall
In desperate places
He paid our wages
One time once and for all
