Here are some books we’d recommend to you so that you can study along with us as we preach through the book of Ruth.

41QmW03xfwL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_Paul Miller – A Loving Life: In a World of Broken Relationships

Miller’s book on prayer was gold. This is the same. Really easy to read, not technical, and a great book to help connect the ancient tale of Ruth to your present day life and relationships.

41xqAd4R2+L._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_Carolyn Curtis James – The Gospel of Ruth: Loving God Enough to Break the Rules

As Ruth is primarily the tale of two women, a Biblically faithful exposition from a Christian woman’s perspective was so helpful. James opened the book of Ruth to me in ways I otherwise would have never seen.

51jzdE7y69L._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_Robert Hubbard, Jr. – The Book of Ruth (New International Commentary on the Old Testament)

A bit more technical, but it comes highly recommended and so far so good. Daniel Block’s commentary Judges-Ruth (New American Commentary) falls in the same category as well.

51xYca-NxmL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_John Piper – A Sweet & Bitter Providence: Sex, Race, and Sovereignty in the Book of Ruth

It’s by John Piper. ‘Nuff said. It’s available for free here.
