O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food. (Psalm 63:1–5)

We were created to hunger and thirst. Those are good desires. They remind us of our yearning for something greater than what we find within ourselves. And yet, a growling stomach and parched lips don’t simply point to our need for food and drink. No, instead, they highlight a greater reality, a yearning for heavenly sustenance – the Bread of Life and the Living Water. Fasting reminds the Bride of her craving for the Bridegroom. As those who have tasted of the glory of Christ, our hearts hunger for the fullness of God and His Kingdom on earth.

And so, as the Bride, we want to spend tomorrow expressing our desire to see more of Christ in our lives, at our church, in our city, and around the world. This is our plan:

Fast During the Day

  • Decide whether you will be fasting during breakfast and/or lunch on Wednesday
  • Spend your meal times praying and reading the Bible (some guidelines below)
  • Plan on breaking fast after our corporate prayer with others (family, GCM, soul care)

Pray During the Day

Here are some topics to be praying for:

Gather Together

We’ll gather from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at church to sing and pray together. Our children will join us. Hope to see you there.
