On April 6 at 8pm, we will be gathering to observe Good Friday. This is when Christians remember the most awful and darkest hours of human history. It is the day when Jesus, fully God and fully man, sinless, innocent, perfect, and pure was killed for the sins of the world. On that day, Jesus was betrayed, abandoned, falsely accused, beaten, flogged, mocked, spit upon, stripped, condemned, crucified, and killed. It is a somber day of remembering the anguish of Christ, the horror of our sin, and the cost of our forgiveness.
But at the same time, it is a good day. For on that Friday, God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Our sin and guilt were nailed with Jesus on the cross and we bear it no more. So gather with us as we remember this Good Friday through silence, song, prayer, and scripture – especially meditating on the seven last words of Christ as follows:
• Father, forgive them for they know not what they do:Todd Ferwerda
•Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise:Nate Pache
•Woman, behold, your son…Behold, your mother: Dennis Mathew
•My God, my God, why have you forsaken me:Joe Thottukadavil
•I thirst:Binu Abraham
•It Is Finished:Siby Varghese
•Father, into your hands I commit my spirit:Tyson Strople
