Storms such as illnesses, financial troubles, addictions, fractured relations are part of our lives; they could be short lived or never-ending in this lifetime. Pastor Siby’s sermon from March 10th encouraged us to consider the way to move through such storms.

As a Christian, we believe that our God is good and that nothing happens in our lives that is out of step with His foreknowledge, yet it is very difficult to translate that understanding into how we are to live through our painful realities!

It is precisely during such time that our perspective is life-determining; it informs how we traverse through these storms. Our attitudes and points of view guide our actions.

Our understanding of who God is and who we are in relation to Him could literally save our lives!

Apostle Paul said in Acts 27:25, “So take heart, men, for I have faith in God that it will be exactly as I have been told.”

Do you believe what God has said to you regarding these storms? What did He say anyway?

Following are a few promises worth committing to memory:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34

It is easy to lose perspective when we are in the thick of turmoil.

Friends, resolve to remain God-facing and God-seeking, so that you can remain hopeful! If you find yourself too weak to do this in your present circumstance, ask a friend to cover you with prayer.

May this be our refrain as we face our storms: “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness”.
