One book and one video that I would highly recommend.

1. Bloodlines by John Piper

I had it in my notes on Sunday and completely forgot to mention this book in the sermon. It was Piper who opened up my eyes to Luke 4 and the passage where Jesus gets rejected by the ethnocentric synagogue at Nazareth. A great read on the issue of race and the gospel.

2. Tony Evans preaching on John 4

Do yourself a favor and watch this sermon. Evans is a master preacher and his insight into the interaction between Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well is brilliant. (Wait till you get to the end and he starts talking about mayonnaise!)
